It should be noted that there are many venomous snakes in and around Brisbane, such as the coastal taipan, tiger snake, death adder, rough-edged snake and eastern brown snake. Of these snakes, only the eastern brown snake is found in the suburbs of Brisbane

Eastern brown snakes vary in color from light brown to almost black The belly is cream with orange spots To add to the confusion, hatchlings may have a black head and neck band or a black cross band along the entire length. These patterns gradually disappear with age The eastern brown snake is found in a variety of habitats, from grasslands to eucalyptus It is distributed everywhere except in western Queensland Active during the day, the eastern brown snake feeds on frogs, birds, mammals and reptiles If enraged, the snake will rear and assume an S-shaped strike position, and bite if approached or enraged. Unusual but rare occurrences occur in laid-back areas of Brisbane It is commonly found in bush and rural areas of the greater Brisbane area The average length of the eastern brown snake is 1.5. 1.5 m
Australian Snakes Stock Illustrations

It lives in forests, woodlands, pastures and farmlands Small-eyed snakes feed mainly on skinks and geckos It gives birth to eight young ones The average length of the former small-eyed snake is 0.5. Meters It is common throughout Brisbane
The red-bellied black snake is shiny black with a red belly (sometimes pink or white) on top The small eye resembles a snake on the surface These snakes are found in a variety of aquatic habitats, but are most frequent in wet plant communities They are active during the day and are often seen basking in the sun in the grass Red-and-black birds feed primarily on frogs but will also eat small mammals and reptiles. They live young and can grow up to an average of 2 meters The species was once common in Brisbane but is believed to have declined due to loss of bat eggs It is now restricted to colder areas north and south of Brisbane
Spotted black snake is also called blue black snake It is variable in color from black and dark gray to white or cream in individual scales
