Benihana Marriott Gold Coast – It was my five year anniversary and P had said he wanted to try teppanyaki, so I decided to go to Benihana – said to be the best teppanyaki place on the Gold Coast. It’s the 24th of April, also Easter Sunday, so I’m not sure if they’ll have an extra charge, don’t stop using the Fun Card, but they do and there’s no extra charge so lucky =)
I booked a table at 6pm every time I went with my family we were taken to the table straight away, but this time they were told to wait in a weird bar area but just took pictures while waiting = )

I was taken to our table, there were 4 other tables around us starting to eat – didn’t realize that most people eat before 6pm!

The Easter bunny came and gave us Easter eggs and took pictures with the little ones – he was so bad I decided not to take a picture with him =P
We ordered Rocky’s Choice (hibachi steak and chicken) and Benihana Fish of the Day (snapper or salmon and king prawns). We chose snapper because we always make salmon at home. The meal comes with a delicious onion soup, Benihana salad, hibachi shrimp and vegetable entree and hot rice. We changed some of the steamed rice to chicken rice for an extra $7.
I thought the onion soup was good but P didn’t like it too much and said the onion teppanyaki tasted good. I was meant to be “more” compared to miso soup but he said he liked it better – oh well!
Easter eggs obtained from the Easter Bunny – local style eggs but free so you can’t complain =P
The Lux Traveller
The chef tried to demonstrate by making a fire with a pile of onions – P was impressed but I’ve seen this many times =P
This is the dipping sauce for our meal, although I prefer the stuff =)
The chef doesn’t have to cut the shrimp up front, unlike Japanese chefs – it’s all done for him.
Teppanyaki is a show above all else – so the chef tries to throw pieces of prawns for each of us to catch in our mouths. Before dinner, P said I was going to fail miserably and it was going to stick in my eyes or something funny like that – hmph! P went ahead – and failed, not even close: P It was my turn, I was very focused to put it in the mouth but I didn’t pull back enough and it actually landed in the eye! OW… MY… GAWD =_______________=;;;;;; unbelievable!

After porridge, he cooked fried rice. Here they are slicing eggs for chicken rice – they sliced everything on my plate!
Chicken rice is so good – got 2 medium sized bowls even though I only ordered one =)
The snapper was delicious and fresh and the prawns were very tender, although everything was a bit salty.
This is disappointing though – it’s too salty! I don’t think this chef is very talented =S Even though he cooks the beef rare – just the way you want =) but it’s very salty!!
Jw Marriott Surfers Paradise Review
We were full after all, but because it was an anniversary, P decided to get dessert – tempura icecream.
This was the highlight of the day! So sweet! Crunchy on the outside and the vanilla ice cream is delicious! I wonder how they make this deep without melting the ice cream? I’m not a fan of the chocolate sauce – it tastes like the fake chocolate sauce at Maccas!
A little disappointed overall, but I guess because it’s a public holiday, they should get all the uneducated cooks out. Wow, still happy. Winner – Australia’s Best Family Resort 2020 – (7th year in a row) as voted by Holiday & Kids Magazine readers

A Northerly Aspect
The overall feeling when you enter this hotel is one of home. There is a feeling of the interior of the Gold Coast and the rainforest, drawing on floating elements and canopies to simulate entering nature. Features include stone carvings and tree screening with a high level of greenery.
Give you at the hotel there is a friendly staff, a couple of famous bears, and lavender-infused drink cool and refreshing accompanied by an entertaining theater performance. From there, the service continues to shine throughout the stay, from room and staff service to food and beverage service.
Take a walk around the grounds of the hotel, and you will discover that there is much more to this hotel than meets the eye. First, the lake. It looks like an amazing lake from the surface, but go below, and you will find a magical world of coral and fish. A large sand pool stocked with tropical fish, a waterfall, and a separate freshwater pool (no fish here) complete with a whirlpool. These caves connect the lake to the spa grotto for waterslides, cabanas and silica sand specially designed to stick to instead of you. Of course, this is a special lake.
For those who don’t want to get wet, there are cabanas around the pool to soak up the sun, sip cocktails or have a snack at the Pavilion. Book a special cabana package and make a day of it with all-inclusive drinks and food. If you need to pull yourself out of the pool, there are plenty of them
