Alliance Airlines has announced that it will trial a special $99 one-way fare between Bundaberg and Brisbane for travel up to 31 March 2020.

Alliance Airline CEO Lee Schofield said the airline is responding to requests for more affordable travel.
“The Alliance understands the cost of air travel, particularly the impact it has on residents of regional communities like Bundaberg,” Schofield said.
“We have received many requests for cheaper air tickets and are excited to trial this community ticket for the people of Bundaberg and the surrounding region.
“We are optimistic that this special award will also increase sightseeing in the beautiful southern Great Barrier Reef region from south-east Queensland.

“The $99 price and short flight time on our jet will further strengthen Bundaberg as an attractive short break destination for South East Queenslanders.”
Mayor Jack Dempsey welcomed evidence of Alliance Airlines’ $99 fares, which he said would be appreciated by the community.
“I know this is something our community has been asking for and I urge residents to take advantage of this trial period and demonstrate the demand for affordable flights to and from Bundaberg,” said Mayor Dempsey.
“The council is in regular dialogue with Qantas and Alliance on a range of issues and it is pleasing to see our region’s demands being considered.”

“We recognize that air fares on regional routes are dependent on the commercial viability of each airline and it’s great to see that the Alliance has voluntarily moved beyond this thinking,” Cr Barnes said.
“Of course we cannot overlook the importance of cheap air travel to the regional tourism industry and especially during the current turtle season, when mothers return to lay their eggs and babies begin their long and tiring journey.”
