Flights Broome To Bali – A Qantas flight made an emergency landing in Broome this morning after reports of a major electrical problem.
A Qantas flight with 264 passengers on board from Bali to Sydney diverted to Broome in the early hours of Tuesday after experiencing an electrical problem.

Flight QF44 left Bali at 10.40pm local time on Monday for Sydney, but 45 minutes after midnight in northern WA the plane suffered an electrical problem.

The pilots asked to be given priority and diverted to Broome, where they circled the sea several times before landing safely at 1.45am.
“A Qantas flight from Denpasar to Sydney to Broome was diverted early this morning due to a power outage.”
“The plane landed safely and we are working with Broome Airport to disembark passengers and re-board them on other flights,” the spokesman said.
However, due to the fact that the Airbus A330 flight did not fly to Broome, there was a delay of about two hours in getting the appropriate measures for the Border and Customs staff to deal with the passengers.

Broome Airport CEO Paul McSweeney said the Airbus A330 was the largest passenger aircraft to land at the airport in its history.
Mr McSweeney said he was delighted with the response from emergency services and other services including Qantas, Customs, Border Force, Police, Motor Vehicles, Ambulances, Isolation, Fire and Rescue.
“It really proved that Broome can pull together and make something happen in a short amount of time and the fact that nobody got hurt was a great result.”

UPDATE: Broome made his first appearance on a plane that took off from Singapore’s Changi Airport this morning.
Before SilkAir’s first flight between Singapore and the western city of Kimberley, the name made the rounds with Honolulu, Kuala Lumpur and Tokyo, making Broome an international destination.
This first four test flights paved the way for the 5.5 million Singaporeans and half of the world’s population living within a seven-hour drive of the island nation.
The flight was the result of a joint project between Broome Airport, the Shire of Broome and Tourism Australia North West.

ANW chief executive Glen Chidlow, who was in Singapore to board the flight, stood under the departure board and said: “This is the culmination of a great deal of work by many agencies and organizations in Broome. This is a great example of working together and we look forward to providing a welcome mat for our new guests.”
