Flights From Seoul To Tokyo – One thing I’ve always wanted to do is travel long distances in style, and after saving quite a bit of money over the last school year, I decided to fly business class on my trip from Tokyo to England. I’m not sure what that says about my priorities, but the fact that it costs more than flights from London to Jakarta, Jakarta to Sydney and Sydney to Tokyo combined should tell you all you need to know for you to know!
Having flown out of Narita airport in Tokyo several times before, I knew what to expect. To be honest, it was a nice change not to have to walk the arduous journey from Terminal 2 to Terminal 3 in the summer heat!

The first real benefit I noticed from flying business class was fast check-in. In fact, I may have looked so out of place that the airline attendant looked at me in surprise and said:

I thought a little cocky, so I answered with the strangest possible “yes” and moved on. I can only assume it had something to do with the fact that I was wearing joggers and a top rather than a shirt and trousers as no one else who joined the line seemed to be an exception!
Checked in, it was time to skip another queue after joining the Star Alliance Gold Track line for security. One of the most time-consuming things at Narita Airport is often the security line, so it was a pleasure to be done in about five minutes!
With about an hour until my flight, I decided to make good use of the free lounges available to business and first class passengers. He handed me a piece of paper from the check-in doctor with a map of the gates and lounges.
My choices were the United Red Carpet Lounge and the ANA Lounge and I chose the first one for convenience as it was close enough to my gate.

The first thing I noticed was how empty it was! It’s a large lounge with room for several hundred people, but I’d be surprised if there were more than 30 people there when I was there.
I threw my bag as far away from everyone as I could and went to look at the food available.
There was the standard sit down fare (pastry, salad bar, yogurt) as well as sushi and scrambled eggs and sausage. If I learned one thing from my two years in Japan, it’s that sausages are never as good abroad as they are at home! There was a woman who completely filled her own shoes, and it was nice to see that. Keep going girl.
Satisfied some last minute sushi cravings (don’t know when you get that again) but managed to eschew most of the free flowing alcohol in favor of orange juice, coke and coffee as it was still on alone 8 in the morning!

Seeing as I was only the third person on the plane, we sat nice and comfortably in my seat while the rest of the passengers filed out. As an aside, I noticed that the guy next to me was wearing tracksuits and Nike trainers. I wonder if he got the same treatment as I did when registering.
There are only 12 business class seats in a two by two system on these particular planes, and they are nice and spacious with plenty of legroom. Not that I often need the extra legroom, but it’s still nice to have the option! There’s also substantial armrests between the seats, so there’s none of that “who gets the lumbar support?” a dilemma
Other extras included cute padded headphones for in-flight entertainment, a USB charging point and a pair of slippers! As someone who often takes her shoes off when flying and can never be bothered to put them back on to go to the bathroom, these were a really nice surprise!

On the subject of in-flight entertainment, there was a wide selection of Hollywood and international films, as well as the standard 10 or so episodes of The Big Bang Theory and NCIS. This might go some way towards explaining why I’m writing this post on the fly rather than using the screen I have in front of me right now.
Once everyone was on board, the cabin crew came over and offered us a glass of water or orange juice, and once we were in the air, the menus came out for the meal on board. There was a choice of a Western meal of beef cheeks, or Korean chicken porridge.
I thought the beef looked a bit heavy at half past nine, so I opted for the porridge, only to be told (very sorry, I might add) that the guy next to me had just ordered the same last. A word of caution – don’t choose the back row of the cabin if you’re a fussy eater!
The food arrived almost immediately with your drink of choice, and I quickly got over the disappointment when the beef fell a little at the touch of a knife. An absolute winner and the best airline food I have ever had. The tube of spicy Korean paste was also added, although I’m not sure my gut would agree.

As it was only a two hour journey, apart from tea and coffee, that was pretty much the end of the service on board. I spent the rest of the flight reading a book, writing this review, and going to the bathroom a few times thanks to the free drinks.
The toilets themselves were standard airline bathrooms, with toiletries such as combs and toothbrushes added. It seemed a bit excessive for such a short flight, but maybe I’m just bitter that I can’t find a use for the comb!
As we landed in Seoul, the cabin crew handed out jackets to the other passengers (which I hadn’t even seen them receive!) before personally thanking each business class passenger for flying with Asiana and congratulating those who have a safe journey ahead of them.
