Hibiki 12 Year Old Whisky 700ml – A legendary Japanese blend of over 20 ingredients, including single malt whiskies from Yamazaki and Hakushu distilleries, and grain whiskies aged 12 to 30 years from Chita Spirits, the exclusive producer of grain spirits.
Aged for twelve years using a standard oak regimen, using a combination of American oak ex-Bourbon and European ex-Sherry casks, with the addition of American oak previously used to grow the traditional Japanese plum wine Umeshu. Interestingly, the can was originally used for efficiency, but has now become an integral part of its trademark flavor profile. After all the ingredients are mixed, the final mixture is exotic filtered through bamboo charcoal.

Dark Brass/Gold. Gently poke into the initial inhalation; a second pass finds sweet American oak and vanilla notes nicely balanced with fresh fruit notes – think kumquot jam. A third inspection yields deeper aromas of dried apricots, figs and fruity chocolate. The lively spirit underpins the medium dry, grainy profile; the wonderful late sugar with honey grains and dry oak is tongue-in-cheek. Competitor of any similarly aged Scotch blended whisky. Years Old Hibiki Suntory Whisky 響– 酒肉の友
The latest addition to the collection, Hibiki, is an expression of Japanese harmony with no age indication. This move gives the resounding mature spirit more options. Now it’s a staple in Hibiki blended whisky.
Harmony blends are based on American white oak malt whisky. These ingredients are also aged in sherry casks and rare Mizunara (Japanese oak) barrels. Grain whisky comes from Suntory’s Chita Distillery.
Quality (and price) may suggest drinking straight or adding a small amount of water. However, Harmony mix can also be served over ice or as part of a luxurious cocktail.
