Time. When she caught the breeze of the Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour, set off a fabulous dinner around Paris’ finest mouse Clarisse, I knew we had to go, and I’m sure it could have been the best afternoon tea ever. Sydney for kids.
As fate would have it, we were invited to market this special dinner just in time for Bastille Day weekend and Sunshine’s birthday! Extending the invitation to Sunshine’s cousin Luna, we were excited about the girls’ afternoon tea experience.
The Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbor Hotel is the latest addition to Darling Harbour’s list of accommodation options. We’ve been wanting to see inside for a while and finally pinched ourselves and walked through the door to make sure it’s one of Sydney’s best dinners for kids.
Park Hyatt Afternoon Tea
The girls were wide-eyed for most of the experiments. They were made to feel very special as our waiter was constantly paying attention when they needed it, refilling their glasses and offering them a new bag when they had chocolate stains.
The highlight is the chocolate fountain. As soon as we sat down, the girls saw him and immediately asked to go to him. I was adamant, and put on my parents’ hard hat and insisted that we eat at the table first before eating from the fountain!
I found the tea selection to be quite impressive and I was amazed at the aroma and taste of the chocolate tea! There were a few other great options, but I’ll leave them up to you to explore (if you don’t like champagne?).
Girls’ Judgment? Well, they decided it was Sydney’s best dinner for kids (even though it was Luna’s first, nothing compared to it!). I think the light, the service, the atmosphere and the chocolate fountain took the edge off for us, but hey…maybe we try a few more?

Created by Australian fashion designer Megan Hess, Clarice has quickly become our favorite mouse. Her stories weave stories of compassion and courage while showcasing Clarisse’s innate sense of style. I love their rhymes and they are also beautifully designed with beautiful pictures and great papers. (Clarice has two books:
High Tea features the color scheme of Clarisse’s books (subtle pink popsicles on crisp white), beautiful plates and crockery that Clarisse herself painted, and food for hungry children like Sunshine and Luna.
Of course, when going out to dinner with kids, it’s important to know what’s on the menu because you want to make sure they eat a little and aren’t crying for more food as soon as you leave. . I was happy with the menu and realized that the kids would eat it without asking. I’m there!
