Lake Macquarie campsites are the perfect place to spend a long weekend under a tarp. Just 90 minutes north of Sydney, there is a salt lake twice the size of Sydney Harbor and many beaches.

Belmont Lakeside Holiday Park
For visitors, Lake Macquarie offers many natural wonders for children of all ages. It’s the perfect retreat to relax with friends by the fire and soak up the festive atmosphere.
There are four campsites on the lake. One is on the western side of the lake at Wangi Wanga and the other three are on the eastern side at Swansea, Blacksmith and Belmont. All of these campsites offer ideal family camping, and if you don’t want to pitch a tent, they also offer caravan sites and lodges.
Wangi Wangis is located next to a lake of native flora and fauna. A children’s playground and a winter bonfire are at guests’ disposal. With easy access to beautiful hiking trails, it’s the perfect place to relax. Wangis is located on the lake front opposite the canal in Swansea. Excellent fishing spots are just a short walk or boat ride away.
Swansea Holiday Park is the largest in the Hunter region. With 383 sites, it’s a great place for families and friends to have fun together. This campsite is sure to be a hit with your kids.
Camping In Park
After a $950,000 upgrade in 2022, the park now features two giant water slides and a mega bucket, as well as miniature golf, basketball and tennis courts, a playground and a school complex. Children of all abilities can access and enjoy the water park, including walkways and ramps.
Swansea is just a 20-minute walk away for cafes and shops, making it an ideal place to pitch your tent. Have a great walk or stroll along the Swansea Canal.
Kammari is just 200 meters from the sea. This gives you access to a swimming pool, playground, school holidays and the opportunity to take your pet with you on holiday. This Lake Macquarie holiday home is close to local shops and restaurants and just a short free bus ride from local clubs.
Blacksmiths are located next to the channel that flows from the sea into the lake. The wall that separates the beach from the canal offers many excellent fishing spots. There is a boat launch nearby that allows you to access the ocean or swim in the lake. Families can also enjoy a swim in the secret tidal pool, locally known as Grandma’s Pool.

Located on the lakefront, the Belmont Hotel offers a pool, children’s lounge, kitchen and pet-friendly area. The camping site gives you the feeling of being on the island and is a perfect place to relax. Launch your boat at the adjacent ramp or cast a line near the shore and enjoy fresh fish for lunch.
All campsites have electricity and non-electric sites or houses. There’s also free Wi-Fi, so it depends on what makes your family happy. You can choose the location that suits your needs.
With excellent facilities, beautiful scenery, the smell of the sea and the feel of the sun on your skin, Lake Macquarie is the perfect camping destination. Enjoy strolling the Belmont South Shore and the kids will love the playground.
