Malaysia Airlines Flight Status Sydney – I booked this flight as the first leg of my trip from Sydney to Bali. I can fly direct to Bali with Qantas, Jetstar, Virgin Australia or Garuda Indonesia but I choose to fly Malaysia Airlines long haul because the flight leaves after 10pm so I can work all day and go to the airport in the evening. .
This flight arrived in KL at 5am and I had to catch another Malaysia Airlines flight leaving for KL at 9am, making it to Bali around lunchtime, just in time for a few afternoon beers.

Unfortunately, Malaysia Airlines canceled the connecting flight and only rescheduled me for the same flight 24 hours later. 2 called their call center and they couldn’t get me on any other flights and said they don’t offer food or hotel vouchers for more than 28 hours they think I stay in KL before arriving in Bali.

I ended up booking a flight on Singapore Airlines to fly to Singapore that day, then connected to Bali. It cost me $400 extra and I didn’t get to Bali until 7pm.
I am still chasing Malaysia Airlines for a credit for the Business Class flight they canceled. I will post a full review for the shocking customer service from Malaysia Airlines and will post the link here soon.
This is my first time flying with Malaysia Airlines and I am looking forward to the experience of flying on board.
I catch this flight on 8th April 2022, a week before Easter and the start of school holidays in Sydney, so I expect Sydney International Airport to be busy. I arrived at 5pm and saw that there were only 8 international flights scheduled to depart, so the check-in area was like a ghost town, the quietest I’ve ever seen.
American Express Malaysia Airlines Promotion: Discount Through May 8
Check-in at the Malaysia Airlines counter is quite simple. They have a separate line for Business Class and a few people ahead of me in line, I checked in quickly.
I had explained that I transferred to Singapore Airlines from KL to Singapore, then to Bali. They asked for my SQ flight number and loaded it onto my luggage tag so they could switch to my Singapore Airlines flight and pick up my luggage in Bali. A nice touch.
Normally at Sydney Airport, Business Class Passengers are given a pass to go through the Express Lane through security, which I soon discovered was temporarily closed. I joined the queue. Although it was very quiet in the check-in area, the line was massive, taking over 1 hour to get through security. Out of 16 x-ray machines, only 3 are working. Although no announcements have been made, some frustrated queuers have suggested security staff have been affected, and staff are unavailable due to Covid. A high possibility that this is true.
When they gave me my boarding pass, they also gave me a pass to the Plaza Premium Lounge. As a OneWorld partner airline, I expect access to the Qantas Lounge. I asked the man at the check-in desk “I don’t have access to the Qantas Lounge”, he just suddenly said “No” without any explanation. I later realized that the last Qantas flight left at 19:30, so I suspected that the Qantas Lounge would close at that time.

Due to a long time to go through security, I arrived at the Lounge at 20:50 WIB. I was told that the Lounge closes in 10 minutes at 9pm. So I had time to knock back 1 beer and a quick snack.
The Plaza Premium lounge is just small, but it is right next to my departure gate and overlooked my Malaysian Airlines A330-300. They had a food buffet with some salads and 3 different hot meals.
My flight starts at 21:30, so after being kicked out of the lounge, I still have 30 minutes to roam the terminal before boarding. A very disappointing Lounge experience.
I had a quick look at the Economy seats and they looked quite comfortable, but I was glad to be flying in Business Class.

.The seats are in 1 x 2 x (1 or 2). On the left side are all single seats, 2 seats in the middle and seats to the right of the window alternated with 1 or 2 seats.
The Business Class Bridge was very comfortable with fully reclined seats and a lot of legroom even with fully reclined seats.
On hand are USB ports and a universal power adapter to charge your device or plug it into your laptop if you have work to do.
The crew shared a Business Class amenity kit as well as a hygiene kit. The amenity kit is a really nice leather satchel from Aspinal in London, England. Inside are all the standard items you’d normally get in an amenity kit – a pair of socks, earplugs, eye shadow, a hair comb, a toothbrush and toothpaste, a mouthwash and hand moisturizer and lip balm. Inside the hygiene kit are face masks and alcohol wipes.

The entertainment screen was a good size, not as big as other airlines I have flown, but still a decent size for watching movies. There is a good selection of recent movies (most of which I have seen as I am a movie buff), but for this flight I just want to watch a movie while eating dinner, then put the seat into flat bed mode and try. sleep for a few hours.
The Flight Map system is an older style static map, not the full interactive map you get on newer planes, but it’s still great for tracking flight progress and seeing which cities we’re going to. Since this is a night flight, there is not much to see from the window, so it is better to follow the map,
Apart from the bottle of water that was on the seat when I boarded, there was no welcome drink. Flying with most airlines in Business Class is common for a welcome drink, a glass of champagne is usually offered, but not for this Malaysia Airlines flight. Boo.
There is no food menu to see what options are offered for post-takeoff dinner and pre-landing breakfast.
Malaysia Airlines Enrich Devaluation June 2017
Dinner service begins with drink service. They had my favorite Japanese beer, Asahi, on board, so I had a can that came with a bean bag. The staff poured beer into a glass for me.
There was no menu to indicate what food we would get. I had seen a Youtube review of Malaysia Airlines business class seats and knew that they serve Malaysian Satay as an appetizer before the main meal. That’s good stuff! That’s cool! I love satay and this was really good. It was a choice of chicken or beef satay and they offered a mix of both which I took. The chicken and beef are both good quality and the satay peanut sauce has a good spicy kick. They offered me a second portion of satay, which I declined as I waited for the main course…which never came. After a while I asked when they will serve the main meal and they informed me that there will be no main meal because they are going to serve a full breakfast before landing. If they had a menu like many other airlines, I would have known it and had a second helping of the delicious satay.
They told me they have snacks available, which are just a few different types of sandwiches. I had a smoked salmon sandwich that was a bit dry and not so tasty. I should have asked to bring the satay cart again.
I ended up sleeping about 5 hours after dinner and then the cabin crew politely woke me up about 1.5 hours before landing to serve breakfast. Breakfast was a full meal starting with some blueberry yogurt and a croissant and half a piece of cold toast with a side of fresh fruit.

They then served a very tasty mie goreng meal. It’s really good. Very big portions and some good Malaysian spices. My stomach was full, ready for the 5 hour layover to my Singapore Airlines flight
The service on this flight is very good. All the staff in the Business Class cabin were nice and friendly.
The cabin manager came to greet me when I first approached and called my name which was a nice touch. He welcomed me back on board even though this was my first Malaysia Airlines flight, maybe he thought since I had OneWorld Sapphire status, I should have flown MH before. All the staff were very friendly and greeted me as I boarded. Really
