Mapleton Falls in Mapleton National Park is only a 40 minute drive inland from Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast.
There are no public transport options available to get to Mapleton National Park so you will need to bring your own car.
Deep Rooted History In Mapleton Fall Creek
The best time to visit Mapleton Falls National Park is between 8am and 12pm with the best light from the sun.
If you are not early, you can visit these palaces at any time during the day.
Note that this waterfall is very popular with tourists, and can get busy on weekends. If you can time your visit during the holidays, you will enjoy it with fewer people.
When you arrive at Mapleton National Park, you will find a large parking lot with many free park areas conveniently located at the entrance to the falls and the Mapleton Falls Lookout.

There are also restroom facilities and a picnic area near the parking lot that you can use before and after your visit.
From the car park, it is just a short walk from where you can get the best view of the falls and Obi Obi Valley.
This 120* high waterfall is a line of flowing water from Pencil Creek that jumps over a rock and flows into a basin far below.
The base of Mapleton Waterfall is not accessible, so be sure to take a few photos here at the viewpoints before moving on to the Wompoo Circuit.

The Wompoo Circuit is clearly marked with a landmark viewpoint along the way called Pilgrim’s Mirror which offers stunning views of Mapleton National Park and the Obi Obi Valley.
The route is mostly flat and passes through the understory rainforest, consisting of timber and dirt tracks. Take your time, marvel at the canopy above, and enjoy the sounds of the surrounding eucalyptus forest.
