I enjoyed my work and wanted to continue my work, so I applied for a swap. The course was fast and hard work; However, I loved being in education again.
I am 30 years old and it was a big decision for me to leave my job and go back to study, living as a student on my own. My father became ill, and spending a long time in hospitals made me realize that I wanted to help people. The swap program was beneficial and the instructors were supportive. I hope to try other areas of senior nursing and would love to work in A&E or cosmetic surgery.

Before going to college, I was paid for my work as a PA for Volvo and decided to make a big career change. I was briefly pregnant and started reading when my daughter was just 12 weeks old. In retrospect, the paycheck was the push I needed to find a job I enjoyed. SWAP was a challenging year, but a very helpful one in terms of getting back on course and learning how to cope with testing. After completing my nursing degree, I would like to move to another country to find a job.
I held a full-time job as a nurse’s aide before returning to education, where I worked for seven years. I realized the time was right and applied for the SWAP program. SWAP is a great way to prepare people for university and in the future I intend to work hard at university, complete my degree and pursue a rewarding career as a mental health nurse.
