Mitsubishi Lancer Vrx Review – The 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer VRX has a tough job ahead of it. First, the CJ chassis is approaching its eighth year of production. Second, most of the competitors offer good service and economy. Will the aging Lancer still be a competitor in the popular small car market? Let’s find out together.
The VRX is equipped with a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 125kW and 226Nm. Prices for the VRX start at $29,990 with the five-speed manual transmission (as tested) or $32,240 with the CVT transmission only.

The VRX is slightly lower than both the turbocharged Ralliart and Evolution models. It’s the right Lancer if you don’t need a turbo, but still want sportier looks and better handling than the original.

New to the VRX 2014 is a 7-inch touch screen with satellite navigation. The Rockford Fosgate music system is based on last year’s VRX model, as well as other features like leather upholstery, a rearview camera, heated front seats, automatic wipers, daytime running lights and a proximity key.

The Lancer’s interior is solid and durable, although there’s some plastic on the door panels. The interior is a functional, uncomplicated system; All buttons and dials are easy to navigate, clearly labeled and concise.
The excessive use of gray plastic means this is not a pleasant place to be, however, the cabin has its atmosphere, especially in the Sportback model, allowing passengers to travel long distances. .
VRX leather is soft to the touch and has a durable feel. The front seats may have more foam underneath you, but the rear armrests should suffice. Seat heaters are just the trick on cold mornings, warming up faster than you can get out on the street.
Sitting in the driver’s seat, you see the steering wheel falls across your hips, you can control it anywhere you want. Headroom and legroom are spacious for both front and rear occupants.

The boat offers 288 liters of space with the rear seats in place. The bottom of the trunk in the Sportback is lowered by 90mm, increasing the trunk space to 344 liters – you just have to lift the steering wheel and change the group accordingly. When you fold down the 60/40 split rear seats, you’ll open up 1349 liters, which means you’ll have a quick call when friends move house.
When you’re done helping out your friends, Rockford Fosgate’s nine-channel sound system keeps you entertained. It offers Bluetooth, USB and aux-in connectivity, and packs a real punch no matter what kind of music you like. There are plenty of adjustments on the machine if you also want to boost the bass – tenths of an inch just doesn’t seem right.
As mentioned earlier, the Lancer is now eight years old, but it still scores five stars for ANCAP safety (the most recent tests were done in 2010). It has seven airbags, electronic stability control, cruise control, rear parking sensors, a rear camera and two ISOFIX child seats.
Although the appearance of the CJ Lancer is old, in VRX form it still looks as sporty as when it first came out. The eight 18-inch wheels look sleek, as do the rear spoiler and side skirts. The colored handles are also a nice touch.

In addition, the VRX needs several thousand revolutions to start working. Anything below 3000rpm and you find yourself waiting for something to happen. As you get up and running, the engine delivers plenty of mid- and high-end torque. However, it is not a very useful knowledge engine.
The five-speed manual transmission isn’t anything to write home about, tough when you want to shift gears, or shifting hard, but it works well every time. The gears feel a bit elongated but seem to fit the shape of the VRX high-output four-cylinder engine.
Back in 2012, we tested a Lancer VRX with a CVT and found it to be very smooth. The CVT gearbox seems to make good use of the available power, and the feeling of running fast. Additionally, you have the option to put it in manual mode (CVT models come with paddle shifters).
The solid steering wheel, combined with the VRX sport suspension, creates a strong driving feeling and handling the roads you love. Mid-corner bumps don’t detract from the VRX’s contours, nor do holes or rough lines.

The lack of any trickery from the front means that the inner wheel around the bend is looking to bounce or try to even throttle. It’s very annoying, especially when you’re trying to maneuver around tight corners. It’s even harder when it rains, causing you to miss the trip you’ve planned.
After several times of braking on steep hills, the pedal feels like a sponge. Everything returns to normal when you let the brakes cool. Although the pedals may be spongy, the car still achieves good braking performance.
In our testing, we were able to score around 10.2L/100km. At 8.8L/100km in the book, it’s the most fuel-efficient small hatch on the market – even the more powerful Volkswagen Golf GTI delivers a lower figure (6.2L/100km).
The Lancer VRX is a delightful driving experience with an airless cabin that meets all your needs.

The only things that let Lancer down in today’s market are the interiors, below-average fuel economy, and dated exterior design. However, Mitsubishi’s five-year/130,000km warranty and 5-year roadside assistance give you peace of mind.
We recommend opting for a CVT instead of a five-speed manual, which means it’s smoother and makes better use of the VRX’s 2.4-liter MIVEC engine.

Robert Saves $5,737 Save Now Robert from Crawford NSW recently saved $5,737 on the sale of a new Kia Sorento. The Lancer was at the time the most beautiful small car on the market. Great prices, not compared to today’s prices. The Sporty looks aggressive, the big engine has to be strong, more leather to attract attention, and no one in the price bracket can be a sounding type. Big mistake – don’t try to drive on the highway.
For a used car with good handling, great performance, great sound, good sound and solid interior feel, I decided to buy a nice Japanese car to perform. my ten year goal. The first flight on the highway I could not speak to the passengers because of the loud noise from the road. Open the trunk to get the goods, there is a cup of water at the bottom. The view of the sun constantly falling in front of you. And worst of all, the car has been ‘forced’ so you have to constantly and I mean MUST make space in the road.
A trip to the dealer for first service and visor replacement, wheel alignment, and a new boot pad. None of the three were fixed. I separate in the professional wheel suspension front and rear positions, slightly better, still electric cars. They ask for tires. Well, the latest Kuhmo Ecsta I’ve owned with no problems, has been serviced until the tires have done 5,000 km. And the window still fell, and the shoe leaked again.
