Nzxt Kraken X41 140mm Aio Liquid Cpu Cooler – For several years now, NZXT has been reaping the benefits of listening to the PC builder/modder community and providing products they really need. This, in turn, leads to the creation of one of the most loyal customers and helps increase the popularity of their brand. So what NZXT has put together is basically an all-star team of products, from power supplies to cases to CPU coolers and pretty much everything in between, except for the bits that handle the numbers. Fortunately for us, they haven’t weakened yet. Today we are going to take a look at their newest offering in the AIO cooler category, the Kraken X41. Stay tuned to find out if this cooler deserves a starting position on the bench or eternal shame.
The Kraken X41 comes to us in a small to medium sized box. The front is decorated with a nice white background, mostly covered with cooler photos. Two other things jump out at us though. The first is the claim that it’s the “world’s first variable speed liquid cooler”, which is very interesting, and the second is the 6 year warranty listed in the lower left corner. On the back of the box we find a list of the X41’s key features, as well as a graphic that introduces us to NZXT’s CAM software, which is used to control and monitor the device.

On the right we find the compatibility list for the Intel and AMD connector types covered. Below is a performance comparison showing the claimed difference in performance between different heatsink thicknesses. And on the other sidebar, we get the same list of specifications included above.

Taking the cooler out of the box, we find it encased in a molded cardboard shell, with most components completely encased in plastic. The radiator itself is protected from damage by a cardboard case covering the ribs. Everything appears to be properly secured and protected from any potential damage during shipping. NZXT continues to impress with small size too! The Kraken X41 has taken all coolers of its size and compact to take the top spot on this list, even competing strongly with much larger offerings. All that, great software, and a price to match it’s a standout product.
Since we’ve already looked at NZXT’s big boy, the Kraken X61, we’re now moving on to their mid-level contender in their sealed all-in-one water cycle. The cooler we are going to look at today is more suitable for the average Joe and this cooler has two main advantages. First, of course, is the size, because not everyone has room for a 240mm or 280mm option, but almost every chassis built in the last two years has an option for a single 140mm fan that can be used for smaller AIOs. The second reason to choose this NZXT cooler over other coolers has a lot to do with the excellent CAM software package we discussed in the previous review, which works with all the latest Kraken coolers.

Deciding to release only three options from Asetek’s extensive heatsink solution, NZXT decided to equip this build with a 140mm heatsink to dissipate heat from the coolant. So what does this mean for the consumer? For starters, this radiator is twenty-four percent thicker than a standard 120mm radiator. In addition, going from a 120mm radiator to a 140mm version provides thirty-six percent more area, and even considering the thicker 120mm version, this solution should be preferred over these designs.
Today we take a look at the Kraken X41 from NZXT. The Kraken X41 has a lot in common with its big brother, the Kraken X61, and retains many of the features that made us rate the Kraken X61 so highly. This model kept things like software, a large number of head unit LED color options, and they even put little things like grommets on the wires to help blend the wires into the chassis. So, for those of you who don’t have deep enough pockets to get a big dual radiator, or if you just don’t have the space to keep something that big but you really liked what we introduced in the X61, then we think you’ll really like the Kraken X41. will do
It looks like all the Kraken spec sheets were created at the same time and they are still a bit confusing in our opinion. Following the list of specifications, we start with the model number RL-KRX41-01. For fans, they start at the top with a CFM range of 42.4 to 106.1 and show that they can reach 0.36 to 1.97 mm H2O pressure. These fans rotate on a nano bearing. The next thing we know is the pump speed in the main unit, which ranges from 2,400 to 3,600 rpm. Then we suddenly come back to the fan and it uses a four-pin power connector. We are then taken back to the pump and shown to be powered by a 12v line and uses a three pin power connector.
When we get to the middle of the chart, we see a compatibility list that covers all CPU sockets currently supported for both Intel and AMD. Then we learn that the fan that comes in the box is 140mm square and 25mm thick, and we assume the 325mA rating is again for the pump, not the fan. Next we look at the heatsink dimensions, the 140mm fan in the box is the same FX V2 PWM fan we got with the X61 and it has a maximum noise level of 37dBA.

As for the rest of the list, we can see what materials are used in this AIO, and we know that the head unit has 400mm or just sixteen inches of black tubing between the swivel fittings and the straight fittings. Heatsink. The figure also covers the main unit’s LED lighting before dropping back to a maximum fan power of 2000 RMPO and a power consumption of 12 V. Apart from that, we find EAN number and UPC, which are not required. Worry about, and we’re told you’ll get control using the same software that changes the lighting. Finally, they claim that this Kraken X41 also comes with a six-year warranty.
Looking at the NZXT arsenal, where you can buy directly from the manufacturer, we found that NZXT offers this cooler for $109.99. If you buy from NZXT, you’ll pay an additional $9.99 for shipping. However, if you shop around, you’ll find that the major email network players stick to a base price of $109.99, and most of them include free shipping. So, take advantage of the deal and get a tube of thermal paste with a difference, because most of us don’t remember to buy a standard order.
The Kraken X41 is priced competitively with the rest of the AIO in this class, and we’re moving into extreme air cooling territory.
