Rheem Solar Hot Water Installation Manual – On the side of the solar control unit is a solar monitor in which both a green and a red LED can be found. Differential controllers also have dual green and red LEDs on the circuit board).
The green LED (marked ‘should’) indicates the current operating mode of the solar controller and will either glow continuously (on continuous), pulse continuously or emit a series of flashes.

The red LED (marked ‘Caution’) is used to indicate a fault mode and will emit a series of flashes if a fault is detected.
Solar Water Heating Overview
(1) When the system is in standby mode (green LED is on continuously or gives a slow pulse) and the solar water heater is full of hot water, the red LED can be on continuously at the same time if solar radiation is still being received by the Solar collectors. This does not indicate guilt. The red LED goes out when the temperature in the solar collectors falls below 130°C.
(2) During periods of high solar radiation when the circulation pump is still off (green LED begins to emit a rapid pulse or a series of 3 flashes), the red LED may simultaneously emit a rapid pulse for a period of a maximum of ten (10) minutes. This does not indicate guilt. This is normal and the red LED turns off when the temperature difference between the hot and cold sensors decreases due to the operation of the circulation pump. The Hiline® solar water heater is ideal for warmer climates and areas with good water chemistry. This is a good option when access to the ground is limited, as the storage tank and solar collectors are mounted together on the roof.
Energy savings based on Australian Government approved TRNSYS simulation modeling and applicable when replacing an electric water heater with a solar water heater.
Any financial savings will depend on the type of solar system installed, the orientation and slope of the solar collectors, the type of boiler replaced, hot water consumption and fuel bill. By regularly replacing an electric water heater, you can make maximum financial savings on your hot water bill.

The estimator is provided as a guide only to help you compare estimated operating costs between different types of water heaters.
The estimator is based on the Australian standard AS5263, which relies on certain assumptions, such as an average daily load of 200 L and 19 taps. Your situation and usage may differ from these assumptions, so the estimator may not match your actual daily load and usage pattern.
Accordingly, the estimator cannot and does not pretend to provide an accurate estimate of your annual hot water utility bill. However, it allows a reasonable comparison between different types of water heaters based on the Australian standard AS5263 and the average fuel rates used in the estimator.
Your state is used to determine the temperature rise required to heat water from cold to a temperature of 65C, the applicable fee for the selected rate type, and the amount of solar savings.
Xwell Slim Classic Plus Electric Storage Water Heater
Solar savings are based on Australian Government approved modeling for the selected solar water heater and booster type. All electrically powered solar water heaters are modeled at a constant rate, but may be suitable for use at other rate types, depending on the model selected, your climate zone, and the amount and usage pattern of hot water use.
Rates are effective July 1, 2021 and represent an average fuel type price for the state or territory capital city, including GST.
Fixed charges, system access charges, delivery charges and all other fees and charges, including special rates and discounts, are excluded from the estimator.
Energy consumption figures used are for a typical water heater in a category and do not represent a specific model. Actual energy consumption may vary.

Depending on the type of boiler chosen and the location, heat pumps and solar boilers may qualify for the peak/shoulder tariff rates. Consult with your energy supplier or installer before making a decision.
