The coast of Liguria in Italy is also known as “La Riviera”. It stretches from the French border to the foothills of Tuscany along the Gulf of Genoa. In particular, the part of the Riviera di Ponente around Sanremo is called “Riviera dei Fiori” (Riviera of flowers) because of the characteristics of flowers, palm trees and olive groves. It has been a home and source of inspiration for our family for 50 years and therefore has a deep meaning for us. In 2015, we named our new restaurant “Riviera” as a tribute to our old country and to celebrate the southern character of Spiez Bay.

Fortunately, Albania is one of the cheapest travel destinations in Europe! It is not part of the EU and has not been subject to Schengen tariffs, making it a backpacker’s paradise.
Guimaras in particular is one of the more “expensive” places to travel in Albania, but I’ll use the quote here. Why? You can also find accommodation for 11 euros a night, which is very cheap and cheaper than the monthly rent in Canada.

The journey from Guimaras to Jipe takes about 40 minutes and is 16 km long. If you have a car, you can easily go to the small parking lot nearby and walk 45 minutes to the beach. If you want to rent a car in Albania, I recommend visiting this place.
If you go by bus, you can ask the driver to stop at the entrance to Jeep Beach, walk 2 km to the bus stop, and then go down to the beach for another 45 minutes. .

Backpacking Mexico 2022: The Ultimate Travel Guide
How long it takes to kayak from Himara to Jeep is a bit of a question. Kayaking skills, weather, routes and more. things to consider.
If you want to kayak the entire length of Guimaras on a Jeep, I recommend booking a day. The kayaking trip takes around 20km mark depending on how many stops you make along the way; because each stop adds distance and time to your trip.
The day I kayaked from Himara to Djipe, I left at 8am and returned at 6pm – 10 hours of adventure along the Albanian Riviera!
Of course, you don’t have to kayak all the way to the Jeep. Before this you will see many beautiful beaches and sights, but the section before the Jeep is the best. The rock walls are higher, the water turns blue, the waves are stronger when they hit the shore, and you will find some hidden caves in the area.

There are two ways to rent kayaks in Himara. You can find a place to rent on the beach for approx. 10 euros/hour (really). OR you can stay at Himara Hostel and rent them for 8 euros a day.
I recommend staying at the Himara Hostel and renting kayaks instead. The price is cheap and the hostel itself is great. The volunteers are very cool, there is an outdoor place to hang out, they have cats and dogs (kittens when I visited) and breakfast included.
I enjoyed my stay at Himara Hostel so much that I extended my stay several times for a total of 6 nights!

Kayaking from the center of Himara to Djipe – shamelessly covering every inch of my skin from the harsh Albanian sun.
Absolutely. I am not an expert kayaker and I found this trip to be no problem at all. However, if you are tying it out, no one can tell you that you have to go all the way to the Jeep. If at any point it feels too much, stop and turn around!
I recommend paying attention to the weather and always swimming with others. If the weather looks bad or stormy on the day you want to go, be smart and go another day.
There are boats that go here and there so you can get some if you need help.
