Day 3, Thursday – Amsterdam City Tour Today’s 700-year-old Amsterdam panoramic tour introduces you to both the old and new quarters of the city. Admire the Royal Palace from Dam Square in Amsterdam, the official residence of the Queen. Visit the Dutch National Memorial, dedicated to Queen Juliana’s memory of the victims of World War II, and the unusual skinny bridge, narrow enough for pedestrians to cross. Day 5, Saturday – Morning and Evening Cruises in Koblenz This morning the boat docks in Koblenz at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers. Join an orientation walk this morning and have free time to explore the Roman architecture and impressive defensive towers of this 2,000-year-old city. Or take an optional visit to the dramatic Macksburg Castle, the only hilltop castle on the Rhine that has never been destroyed and has been occupied for over 700 years. Travel by coach to Wertheim, a charming German village famous for its glassworks and Franconian wines. Just before dinner, rejoin the ship and begin the cruise to Wurzburg.
Day 7, Monday – Wurzburg City Tour Discovery Wurzburg is known as the “Pearl of the Romantic Road” with its dramatic Marenberg Castle, 15th-century bridge and lush vineyards. The walking tour includes some of Salzburg’s most historic sites, including Mirabel Palace, the monastery, Salzburg Cathedral and St. Peter’s Cemetery. After lunch at a local restaurant, you will have time to discover Salzburg on your own before returning to the boat.
