Sydney To Christchurch Return – The super jumbo ‘Queens of the Sky’ will return to Christchurch this December to showcase the appropriate upgrades.
Emirates is sending a refurbished A380 with 56 economy seats to New Zealand. The new cabin class will be introduced on select routes from Dubai (London Heathrow, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Sydney and Christchurch) from August, targeting demand for more premium seats on long-haul flights.

Emirates Chairman Tim Clark said New Zealand was chosen as the best location for service testing.

“We currently have six A380s equipped with this cabin, which limits initial use, but it is our intention to bring this experience to many markets in our network.”
The airline’s New Zealand regional manager, Chris Lethbridge, has called the new cabin “a game changer for New Zealand.”
In an interview with the Herald Lethbridge, he said that while demand is difficult to gauge, he has a clear desire for a return to business and premium travel classes. Seats go on sale from June 1st.
Before the pandemic, many airlines flying to New Zealand enjoyed introducing cabins between economy and business. Air New Zealand, United and other airlines have found many travelers willing to upgrade for more comfort on their 17-hour routes.

Tickets don’t give you access to any lounge in Dubai, but Emirates says Premium Economy has its own check-in area. It’s more comfortable to fly than to experience at the airport.
There’s no bed, but the nearly 40″ seat plus 8″ of reclining closes your eyes but doesn’t make your neck stiff.

Food and beverage service has also been upgraded to Premium Economy. With its own menu and dinner service, which comes with linen, glassware and steel cutlery, the new class aims to serve ‘luxury’ food to entice passengers to its 56 seats in front of the main deck.

Only in Sydney you can kayak around the Sydney Harbor Bridge, swim in the sea pool, hike the city and dine on the rooftops of the CBD. All this is possible on the same day. Once you’ve mastered the public transport system (and it won’t take long), you can plan a trip to Sydney that includes everything you want and some unexpected experiences.
Air New Zealand flies direct from Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown to Sydney. All flights have seat, seat+baggage and fare type options. Workdeluxe, premiumeconomy and businesspremier are also available on some flights.

Going to Sydney for vacation is New Zealand’s business. It’s nice to be just 3 hours away from a big city full of fun, style and sophistication. And Sydney is always changing, so there’s always something new to do, like a Shopper Hopper Ferry trip to Birkenhead. Or something old like North Head’s excavation of the WWII tunnel network.
Many visitors to the Emerald City (the name of Oz’s largest city by playwright David Williamson) don’t pass by the CBD. It’s a shame because Sydney’s beaches are truly outstanding. From the copper expanses of Manly to the quiet snorkeling lanes of Gordons Bay, there are all kinds of beaches for all types of water and sand.
Avalon, north of Sydney, is the best place to surf, but Bondi is so close to the city that it will always be a contender. Narabin Lagoon is a great spot for stand-up paddleboarding, while Narabin Beach has waves for body surfing. If you want to see more beaches in less time, try the Bondi to Coogee Walk. Just like the beach, you will pass a series of sea pools. Some are free and some are paid (the McIver Bath is 20 cents, but beware, it must be female).

Sydney locals know a thing or two about capturing exciting moments every day. They shop in suburbs like Surry Hills, Newtown, Balmain, and Rozelle where tourists don’t shop (for open weekend markets). They guarantee tickets to the big events of the year, the Sydney Opera House and the NRL Grand Finals. And they love free events like Sculpture by the Sea and Vivid Sydney.
Sydney’s interior also likes unique places for kiwis to visit. Carriageworks, an art center that used to be a railway yard, is one such place. It covers all types of creativity: art pieces, art studios and exhibitions, video works, live music, lectures, workshops and fashion shows. On Saturday mornings there is a farmers market with cooking and gardening classes.
Italy and Greece, Thailand and Vietnam, the Middle East and South America, France and Portugal – Sydney food is full of diversity. And every option has two rich elements: creativity and passion. Whether you’re eating jamon at a tapas bar, or you love the attention to detail in a fine dining restaurant, you’ll be amazed by the taste and attention to detail.
Sydney’s best restaurants are moving targets, so it’s a good idea to check out recent developments like the Barangaroo restaurant just around the corner in The Rocks. Celebrities including Brent Savage and Nick Hildebrandt of sustainable seafood restaurant Cirrus have set up shop here. Matt Moran at Barangaroo House, which serves contemporary Australian cuisine; Somer Sivrioglu at Anason, a modern Turkish restaurant; Sonny Nguyen from Phomo, famous for exquisite Vietnamese cuisine. If you haven’t explored Barangaroo yet, your Sydney vacation is late!

Add a few days to your vacation and you can extend your vacation beyond Sydney to the Blue Mountains or the Hunter Valley. Both destinations are 2.5 hours drive from downtown Sydney. Another option is to head south to the NSW coast to Wollongong and Kiama or north to Byron Bay.
The best Blue Mountain vacations can include heritage accommodations like the Carrington Hotel and day walks discovering forests, valleys and waterfalls. If you choose Hunter Valley as a complement, wine and food will be the focus. The new 10km Hunter Valley Cycleway helps make it easier to navigate through the hall gates.
Jervis Bay, on NSW’s south coast, is a dream destination for a relaxing beach holiday. Beautiful Higham Beach, with some of the world’s whitest sand, and Booderee National Park (June-July) for bird watching, snorkeling and whale watching.
Byron Bay in the northern corner of NSW, close to the Queensland border, is where you’ll find surfing culture, alternative lifestyles and tourism combined to create a unique upscale conservation community. The beach is beautiful, the food is healthy, and there is a nature reserve, so I go with men.

Sydney is more of a year-round destination than most cities. Late December and January are the busiest days due to summer vacation, but can be very hot. Winters are mild but too cold to lie on the beach, so if you have a choice, either side of the peak of summer might be ideal.
