Over the years, Target has built a reputation for providing Australians with great quality and value, as well as fun and engaging advertising. However, the in-store experience was much worse.

In 2006, Davidson was asked to join “Team Target,” a group of communications consultants led by a campaign developer to help improve the store’s operations.

Our approach was to create a memorable brand experience by engaging the five senses of consumers. Our journey began with a trip to Los Angeles with Target executives to learn global best practices. Consumers were then involved to help define the target sensory attributes.
With this valuable information, the Davidson team developed a number of concepts, the selected concept was brought to life through digital review, and then two full-scale live prototypes were built at the Chadstone and Glen stores. After signing off from Coles Group’s executive management team, we began a three-year rollout of the concept across the 308-store chain.
A positive response from store management: “… during the conversion I saw a real change in the attitude of my staff.” “The team actually asked to transfer it to the renovated workshops!”
