Toyota Corolla Used Cars For Sale By Owner – Toyota is synonymous with reliability and performance. And often more than that, Toyota cars are always full of comfort and luxury. This is what makes the first generation Toyota Corolla Altis one of the most underrated mid-size luxury sedans in the Indian used car market today.
In this article, I will try to detail the first generation (2008 -2011) Toyota Corolla Altis petrol powered model. And not only Altis. This is mine.

I’ve owned three Corolla Altis sedans over the past three years, one of which I recently sold to a friend. I now have twice the automatic top version ‘V’ and the previous version I sold was the top level ‘G’ manual.

The first-generation Altis was a relatively refreshing move by Toyota, in addition to receiving new extensions, the Corolla was flanked by an entirely new design language. A sleeker look with more aerodynamics, a shorter height, makes for a very pleasant change. Compared to the previous Corolla’s strong long-brow design.
Although the powertrain and gearbox remain more or less the same as its predecessor, the Altis has a more dual character than its older sibling. There’s a sense of mischief in the cabin and a wave of validation for the way it rides. Simply put, the old Corolla is like Budweiser. And altis is corona. It is more refined and refined.
What’s more, Altis, especially the top-of-the-line G and V models, are packed with features and gizmos that give most cars a run for their money today. Not to mention solid build quality. Safety equipment reliability and performance
Like most high-end vehicles, the Altis comes with many attractive features and here are some of the amazing features of the ‘first class’ at that time:

Most of these features are common in cars today. Power seats, rear window blinds, auto-dimming mirrors, all disc brakes and 5-bolt wheels are missing from many cars today because over 100,000 cars were in the past for many Altis competitors.
The only major feature upgrade I had to do was update the sound system. I upgraded the base MP3 player from the OEM sound system to a stylish Blaupunkt Las Palmas 550 with subwoofer. Better, new speakers and a night vision rear camera with video. Parking sensors: Oh, I also installed iridium spark plugs for better performance.
When it comes to performance, Altis is not flawless. The 1.8-liter engine power is satisfactory as the smooth-line naturally-aspirated engine produces a whopping 140 horsepower. It makes you smile like the Sahara desert
Quiet and refined 4-cylinder 1ZZFE block. This makes it a fast car in the congested Mumbai traffic. Of course in Mumbai traffic the key is the car’s speed from 0–20kmph-0 and the Altis is definitely in the pit stop.

You get quick response when you hit the accelerator and the brakes have a sharp bite. And no turbo means you won’t get sudden jerks or steering wheel spins or screeching tires every time you accelerate.
The wide power unit and low ground clearance make it a very engaging drive. The Altis continues to hang on twisty roads through hairpin turns and sharp corners with poise and confidence. The last one left a big impression on Altis, as it chewed up the distance with ease and beat the Wyatts without fuss.
What about highway driving? Altis feels calm at highway speeds. And you can beat speeds of over 160 km/h and change lanes with ease without breaking a sweat. The 4-speed torque converter gearbox is very responsive. And there’s no need to downshift in Sport mode to pass.
You can push the Altis through the rev range and rev the engine continuously for more power. That said, the Altis is not a car that begs to be pushed and punished. She wants to be cared for as a domestic cat. But she bites her lip diligently (pun intended).

The petrol Altis had two transmission options at the time, a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic, with the automatic equipped with a sport mode for generous handling.
My guess is that a manual transmission would make gear selection better. You can place the car better and the gear has a long range. This means you can slow down to 25km/h in 5th gear and shift gears for more power or accelerate again without having to shift gears.
This guide makes for a more enjoyable experience while driving on winding roads and highways. It is a very immersive and fun experience. On the other hand, the automatic transmission provides a smooth and relaxed experience.
Of course, you have sport modes to control what gear you’re in. But it lacks the quick punch and maneuverability of manual transmissions. But like all automatic systems, this one is useful for city traffic. And it makes for a very comfortable cruise on the highway.

Shifting to the automatic transmission is slow and a bit sluggish. But failure was instantaneous. This means you can instantly pull power and go into a corner or lunge without hesitation.
The Altis is a major upgrade over its predecessor. Sharp floating lines and seductive curves combined with a low stance and high nose make it a beautiful place. It has an understated elegance and sparkle in a straightforward design. And that was what was lacking in sedans in those days.
You can see that Toyota has put a lot of effort into making the car more aerodynamic and stylish. This allows it to be installed and maintained at high speed. The design elements are balanced and everything seems proportionate enough. No rough edges or jagged lines.
It fits very well, has chrome inserts where you’d expect and gives the Altis a timeless luxury look. It looks like an 11 year old car from every angle. The interior is very nice. The two-tone interior is adorned with elegant wood-grain plastic trim on the steering wheel, door panels and center console.

The almost waterfall-like cockpit features smart-looking climate controls and displays, soft-touch plastics and leather-wrapped seats. The enclosed gear shift lever is adorned with a beautiful black leather and is attached to a center stick that matches the center console. It reminded me of the Mercedes W124 gear lever.
Overall Altis exudes simplicity and timelessness with its shiny metallic finish and tasteful chrome inlays. If this were a man, she would be a smart and sophisticated woman at the party, cocktails and Sunday lunch and much more to know.
Altis has a wide range of amenities to choose from. First, the seats are well upholstered in leather and have ample backrest and legroom. Headrests are available for all passengers. including the seat in the middle of the back
There is no power transmission tunnel that runs the length of the car. This means that the back is flat. So three people can comfortably sit in the back without competing in the legroom, the headroom is not too bad, and the rear blinds create a warm and pleasant atmosphere.

Toyota has also emphasized the Altis’ ride quality, and I was particularly impressed with how it collected rough pavement and asphalt without any noise.
Carefully selected dampeners and My Michelin Premsi tires provide ample cushioning against the ever-tough roads, a lifelong companion of drivers in Mumbai. I was more impressed with the smooth and hassle-free ride quality.
No crazy or unnecessary bumps on busy roads. And the car is still at high speed. You can reach speeds of 150 km/h and your passengers won’t notice.
Also, the car is well covered. So you don’t hear what’s outside. And this is especially good in crowded and crowded places like Mumbai.
Shopping For A Used Toyota Corolla
Coming to the most important part of the article. Let’s talk about maintenance. The biggest advantage of owning a Corolla Altis is that all parts are available at home. The support and assistance of the company’s departments is excellent.
The Altis is a well-built car and doesn’t require much maintenance, but if you’re a perfectionist (like me), you might end up spending a lot of money to get your car running like new.
