I’m never one to write a review, but I just have to for Katie & Joseph. The first thing I can say is… WOW. You must hire these two to capture your special day, there are no other two people who will capture your day better. From our first phone call, to our wedding day, Katie and Joseph made everything so effortless. We knew from the first time we spoke with them that they would be the perfect fit for my husband and I. We both never get professionally photographed and may be two of the dumbest people in the world, however Joseph and Katie never made us feel that way and made us feel so comfortable and enjoy our day. They were so attentive to everything, kept asking if we wanted other specific photos and captured every fun second of our wedding. We can’t thank them enough for everything they did for us, we had so much fun with them and even got to dance the night away with them on the dance floor. So many of our guests during and even after our wedding complimented us on how amazing they both were and how fun it was to watch them capture our day. This Central Coast mom with two sweet girls is also the owner of Once in a Lifetime Wedding Coordination. If you are lucky enough to speak with this wonderful woman, you will see why she has been voted the #1 Wedding Planner in Santa Barbara County! What an honor it was to spend an afternoon with her! She believes that every bride and groom has a story to tell and a unique vision for their special day. Dalina works closely with each couple, as well as local vendors, to ensure they have an unforgettable wedding day.
It was an honor to win the ‘Best Wedding Planner’ award for 2015 – Thank you! What’s my secret? I don’t think so… I absolutely love helping brides (and grooms!) plan their dream day. My focus is ‘brides on a budget’ – and I try to find ways to help people save where they can. I find that most brides have a vision of what they want – but then find out the cost of the wedding (food, photography, flowers) – and it can be overwhelming.
As a designer, my goal is to help them get closer to their vision without breaking the bank. That means finding ways to get creative – ways we can keep costs down and little things we can do to keep it great and great, but affordable!
I helped a few friends plan their weddings and then first assisted another coordinator for a few years – and that gave me an insight into what was involved. I also collaborated with other local wedding vendors and worked with industry leaders who were willing to mentor me and help me grow my business. Now it’s great to give back and refer them to work! And I love having interns or students who want to get into event planning. I’m certainly happy to “pay it forward”.

There are challenges to running your own business and for me that meant building a website! It sounds so simple and EVERYONE has it, so why did it take so long? It’s horrible! First, because I’m not a techie, and second, because I had no idea how to start. I took my time and found a great DIY website (Squarespace!).
I would say the slow gave me time to step up and see how much I could handle. That meant learning from others in the business, following wedding planners, attending local wedding expos and joining trade groups. There are 1001 websites on the internet about “how to become a wedding planner” – but like any business, the best experience is practice and learning FIRST hand from someone else and how they succeeded!
