If Macallan had an alter ego at the Scottish distillery, it would be Yamazaki. Yamazaki, the doyen of Japanese distilleries, has dominated the sherry bottle maturation scene since Karuizawa closed in the early 2000s with its standard bearer Yamazaki 18 Year Old and the now extremely rare Yamazaki 25 Year Old. Sherry has become Yamazaki’s trademark, with numerous medals and awards recognizing the expertise and mastery of this refined style in the most demanding countries. A large number of small batch single casks, such as The Yamazaki Distiller’s Sherry Edition 2013 and The Yamazaki Elephant Private Cask 3T70070, played a role here. Yamazaki also produces The Yamazaki 1986 Owner’s Cask 6G5029 with Japanese Mizunara oak barrels and different origins (Spain, America, Japan) and different woods (sherry, sherry, mizunara), for example Yamazaki 25 years old, 1984.

The “Organic” label covers all properties certified to use organic methods. They are accredited by one of the bodies such as Ecocert approved by the Ministry of Agriculture.
The definition of “sustainable” includes all properties that are certified to use sustainable methods or have a high environmental value (level 3 environmental certification).

He impressed the whiskey with a 97.5 out of 100, praising the whiskey for its “close to ineffable genius”, “sparkly bold nose” and “lightly bold and teasing” finish.
This is the first time in the Whiskey Bible’s 11-year history that a Japanese whiskey has won the prestigious award.
Yes, it’s a small batch that was recognized by a single person as the best whiskey in the world, and then a bunch of information promoted by all the PR agencies and lazy news around the world, which led to a ridiculous and very distorted opinion of the Japanese. whiskey is the best in the world. Ask any uneducated person and they still believe it, so it’s no wonder there are so many fake Japanese whiskeys today (there are foreign whiskeys labeled as Japanese due to some very liberal laws – and the appropriate kanji, No or Kabuki stuff and cherry blossoms. ). But let’s try to put that big pile of BS out of our minds and check out this NAS baby. Color: red coffee. Beanie: Really, really. Great nose, even if we were close to old Port Morant or something. In fact, it’s quite simple, but it emphasizes the roundness and immediacy of the sweet profile of the sherry. Polished wood, plum, chocolate and repeat. The Yamazaki 18 was more complex, but there… Mouth: very complex, but a great tasting arrival. It’s a Christmas cake with dried bananas, raisins, dried figs and everything is so good. No, maybe a little maraschino too. Finish: Very long and slightly thick. Just ‘ideas’ of orange and plum marmalade and miso soup and coffee. And I’m not saying that because it’s a Japanese whiskey, mind you. Comments: I can totally understand why someone would declare this their favorite whiskey. I would call it simple (we are far from the glorious monstrosity of the Scottish lion, and there are hundreds of examples), but on the other hand, it is absolutely perfect in its bold simplicity. So I won’t argue, but I liked Chichibu better.
